Silver restoration is our speciality, and we understand that often some of the pieces that come into our workshop hold more sentimental value than anything else.
Our expertise enables us to restore damaged pieces to their former glory, regild and replate all plated objects, replicate or replace missing components. With all restorations, the original style is adhered to as closely as possible to create as sympathetic and seamless a repair as possible.
'Old Sheffield Plate' is a layered combination of silver and copper first discovered in the 1700s, which has since been replaced by electro-plating.
Davies and Daughter are specialists in the conservation and restoration of items made in the 'Old Sheffield Plate' fashion, which include all types of silverware from tea sets and trays to candlesticks and cutlery.
